“Severe Weather Strikes Maryland: Heavy Rainfall, Strong Winds, and Swift Water Rescues in Abingdon”

In Maryland, on Wednesday, there was heavy rainfall and strong winds due to a fast-moving storm. Streets in Abingdon, Harford County, Maryland, were filled with water, and because the water level rose significantly, many people had to be rescued from their vehicles.

Emergency teams, as seen in videos obtained by WJZ, are using life rafts to rescue several stranded individuals.

Between Maryland 543 and Maryland 136, cars were nearly completely submerged on Maryland Route 7.

By evening, a tornado warning was issued for Harford County.

WJZ’s Chelsea Kershner was in Aberdeen, along Route 40, where a car was stuck in water. Officials told WJZ that they responded to over 20 swift water rescue calls, with five to six being actual rescues.
